Lenape Technical School is proud to announce Jordane Schaeffer as the 2021 SkillsUSA National Medical Math Competition Gold Medal Winner! Jordane competed in the National SkillsUSA competition in June representing Lenape Technical School and PA SkillsUSA as the State Gold Medalist during competition. Jordane is the daughter of Connie and Kenneth Schaeffer of Ford City.
Jordane earned her way into the SkillsUSA National Medical Math competition by winning the Lenape Tech local competition while she was a junior in the Biomedical Technology Program. She then went on to win the District-level competition in January of 2020. While her next step would have been to attend the 2020 State competition in Hershey, PA in April 2020, all state and national competitions were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although local competitions would again need to be cancelled, we were pleased to learn that the 2021 state and national SkillsUSA competitions would take place virtually. This meant that Jordane, now a senior, advanced directly to the state level competition held virtually in March 2021 where she earned a gold medal for finishing in first place. Normally, state winners would then compete at the SkillsUSA National Conference originally scheduled to be held this year in Atlanta, GA., however, the ongoing pandemic concerns required students to compete virtually. Jordane’s state win qualified her for the national competition in Medical Math which was held on June 16th where she finished first out of 17 competitors from around the United States and its territories.
