On Wednesday, November 24, 2021, Nathan Lukehart, a senior in our Welding program, passed away as a result of a vehicle accident. The sudden passing of a member of our school community is always painful and can be difficult to understand. At times, students may experience signs of stress that can include:
||Changes in sleeping
|Inability to concentrate
||Thoughts of death or dying
|Fearfulness and worries
||Use of alcohol or other drugs
|Withdrawing from activities and friends
Support from Family Counseling Services and Lenape Tech’s guidance office will be available at the school on Tuesday to talk with students who are experiencing stress.
Also, your child may approach you with questions or concerns about this situation. I would encourage you to engage in a meaningful dialog to assist them with processing what has occurred. If your child was a friend of Nathan’s, we urge you to call us for additional support.
If you would like to talk to one of our counselors regarding how we can best support your child, please call me at 724-763-7116 Ex. 3300. After school hours, you may reach out to the Crisis Line call center at 877-333-2470.
We feel that is it important for us to work together to support your child and remain committed to providing resources to all members of our school community during this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or information that you would like to share.
