Prior to entering a career in education Heather Simpson attended Penn State University and competed her associates in Architectural Engineering Technology and her bachelors in Structural Design and Construction Engineering Technology. After designing steel beams and column connections for large commercial buildings she changed careers and began teaching the CADD/Pre-Engineering Technology program at Lenape Technical School in 1999. In addition to being the CADD/Pre-Engineering Technology instruction Heather has also taught elective classes: Blueprint Reading, BattleBots, Introduction to CAD, and Introduction to Robotics. Furthermore, Ms. Simpson teaches adult education classes at Lenape Tech for AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks. Heather has been an adjunct professor at Penn State University for several years teaching AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks and customized training for companies.
Heather is an active member of the Female Alliance for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Excellence. She has designed and held STEM summer camps and mini camps for girls (and boys) in grades 3 through 12. Some of her activities include: Creative Cosmetics, Come Build a Robot, Learn to Solder, Binary Coding and FASE Discovery Camp.
