Incumbent is responsible for grinding and polishing diamond optical substrates to the specified tolerances.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Production Processing  

  • Maintains production plan per work order due dates to optimize schedules, deliveries, yields and intra-department communications.
  • Maintain manufacturing processes per procedures by observation and routine audits.
  • Communicate Diamond Fab production process/yield problems to Manager, supervisors and/or process engineers on a timely basis.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing issues as they occur.
  • Attends daily production shift change meeting, communicating priorities and issues to manufacturing team.
  • Plans activities and schedules that relay any issues that could occur and cause delays
  • Understands all diamond processing activities and provides feedback on areas of concern.
  • Provides feedback to process engineering and maintenance that relates to yields or concerns that affect deterministic manufacturing.

Process & Equipment Maintenance                        

  • Performs daily equipment maintenance (checking operation temp, water flows, and outlined general maintenance task).
  • Works needed production schedules to meet a commitment to on-time-deliveries.
  • Reviews quality goals outlined for the work group and addresses issues as they occur. Assures goals are met.
  • Support cross training throughout the department and utilizes training skills when appropriate.
  • Enforce company rules and shop procedures in the processing and support areas.
  • Provide problem solving and technical support for daily production issues.
  • Focus on maintaining deterministic process controls and sustaining process operations.
  • Periodically works off scheduled shift to support training and improve communication.
  • Uses experience to improve processes, communicating with manufacturing and process engineers.                      Employee Relations

Education & Experience

Education:           High school diploma

Experience:        >2 years manufacturing experience

Skills & Other Requirements

Verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, results oriented, multi-tasking, data recording and entry.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing environment involving small and large pieces of equipment and hazardous chemicals.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Basic Function of the Job:

Operation of automated and manual thin film coating chambers. Programs design sequencing for evaporation requirements. Monitors evaporation process for precise evaporation end points. Maintains two high volume coating chambers through proper setup, tear downs, operational modes and miscellaneous setup maintenance. Documents in detail all evaporation data, relaying abnormalities to shift lead and/or supervisor. Works as a team player supporting all shift work activities.

Education & Experience 

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong math background or equivalent work.
  • 0-2 years manufacturing experience.

Shift: Rotating Day/Afternoon or Midnight

Skills

  • Able to work in a demanding fast paced production environment involving multi-tasking, forward thinking, strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Responsible for high accuracy thin film coating deposition work. Requires intense special observational and technical skills to ensure proper performance of product during all stages of coating.
  • Able to work with acid, radioactive materials and other toxic chemicals.
  • Proven project planning, project management, documentation, problem-solving, and work prioritization skills.
  • Must be both team-oriented and self-motivated. Able to achieve results independently or working with others.
  • Confidential information of all coating processes and procedures and new development.
  • Contact with others within and outside the department, including peers, supervisors, engineers and quality assurance personnel.
  • Handle special assignments promptly and professionally.

The Armstrong School district is currently hiring a permanent full-time Maintenance HVAC/Boiler Technician.  

Qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED, college, technical or trade school), minimum of one year prior HVAC/Boiler experience and EPA Type II preferred, basic computer skills, and valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License. 

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities and Property Services, the HVAC/Boiler Technician provides daily operation and maintenance of heating/cooling systems throughout the district.  This includes troubleshooting, testing, diagnosing, repairing, and replacing equipment/control systems. The Technician must also have general knowledge and skills in the performance of all trades, as to apply knowledge of multi-trade areas to general repair and minor construction duties throughout the district.  The Technician ensures that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and demonstrates competence in the performance of job responsibilities using established district practices and procedures. 

Pay: $19.50/hour

Production of precision optical components using a single axis diamond turning flycut machine. Materials to be machined may include but are not limited to Cu, CuCr, Al, Ni, Au, ZnSe, ZnS, Ge, and Si etc. The operator will be responsible for controlling and verifying all critical component dimensions, finish quality, and optical figure for all parts machined.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent. 
  • Competent shop math and algebra skills.  
  • Any of the following experience is a plus but not required:
    • Machine shop 
    • Machine operation
    • Inspection
    • QA 

Skills:                                

  • Good mechanical problem solving
  • Well developed communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle diverse detailed tasks.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust to daily work requirements

The Adult Education Program has a current opening for a part-time evening instructor for our Fundamentals of HVACR course.  The course meets one evening a week for 10 weeks (twice a year). A degree is not necessary but candidates must have an enthusiasm for their subject and a desire to share their expertise. Certifications in your field are a plus! A minimum of three years’ experience working in the subject area, good communication skills, and good organizational skills are required. The hourly rate is competitive.
