Commencement 2020
Grading Calculations Due to COVID Closure

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The mandatory closure of schools and the move to virtual instruction via online resources or paper packets has necessitated a significant change as to how student grades are calculated. As stated in our Continuity of Education Plan, the prevailing goal for our students during the closure is to provide activities that allow students to remain engaged in learning and growth until schools are permitted to re-open, and a sense of normalcy can return to our classrooms.

Additionally, as a career and technical center, there is no practical way to replicate the critical hands-on learning experience of our technical programs through long-term virtual learning or paper packets. This issue also prevented students from earning some industry credentials that require important hands-on demonstration of skills.

Graduation Presentation of Diplomas

Lenape Tech is looking forward to honoring our Class of 2020. The Virtual Commencement Ceremony will be available on our Facebook and Website beginning at 7:00 pm on Friday May 22nd. This commencement program will continue to be available so that families can gather when appropriate to view together at time convenient for them. In addition, students were given an invitation to attend their Personal Presentation of their Diploma on the evening of either May 28th or May 29th by their scheduled time when they picked up their personal belongings. If they did not attend these will arrive by mail by the beginning of next week.

In order for Lenape Tech to honor the Class of 2020 with their families, we ask for your cooperation by following the procedures listed below. These procedures allow for a safe, and special moment for our graduates and their families. We appreciate your cooperation in advance!

Student Personal Item Distribution Procedures

On the dates and times listed below, students/parents/guardians will be permitted to come to Lenape Technical School and pick up their personal belongings. Proper safety protocols will be exercised during the entire event.

Graduation & Awards Assembly

Lenape Technical School has evaluated several different alternative options for honoring the Class of 2020. Lenape Technical School will proudly graduate 171 students as part of the Class of 2020. Planning any event with this large class size, while still adhering to the social distance guidelines has been a challenge. The changing guidance regarding social distancing and inability to guarantee a traditional commencement ceremony at the end of this school year or at a later date has driven the decision to organize the following events to recognize the Class of 2020

IMPORTANT UPDATE - Attention Lenape Tech Students and Families

As we prepare for the remainder of the school year, please see the following updates:

Planned Instruction Update

Dear Lenape Students, Parents, and Families,

As was explained in our April 9th Community Update, our continuity of education plan is changing in response to Gov. Wolf’s mandate that all schools in Pennsylvania remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year.  We know that the faculty, staff, students and school community were hopeful that somehow Lenape would be able to re-open so that our students could return to finish out their school year. Unfortunately, this will not be possible.

Up to this point, students have been engaged in Enrichment and Review learning activities. This work has been optional and has not impacted students’ current grades. Instead, students were able to remain engaged in learning and fine-tuning their understanding of important concepts they were studying prior to the closure.

However, now that schools are required to be closed for the remainder of the school year, Lenape students will begin participating in what is called “Planned Instruction.”

Although the format for Planned Instruction is very similar to what students have been doing so far, the major difference is that beginning Monday April 20th, all students will be required to participate in and complete all coursework, assignments, and activities.

These assignments will be graded. Teachers will also be tracking your participation as a form of attendance.

Please read the following information carefully, as this will outline your plan for successful completion of the 2019-2020 school year.

Meal Information
