Lenape Tech has partnered with an organization of mobile dentists called Smile Programs. On December 20, 2016 we will be hosting a dental clinic for our students here at Lenape. The Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Surgeon General’s office recommends in-school outreach programs, such as those coordinated by Smile Programs, as an effective means to overcome the most common barriers to dental care, i.e. lack of transportation, insufficient financial resources, lack of providers willing to service low-income communities, and failure to properly prioritize oral health issues.
How the Smile Programs work:
The dental team provides a thorough dental examination/screening, dental cleaning, fluoride treatment, x-rays, and sealants. Additionally, they can provide dental services that may include: fillings, simple extractions of baby teeth, and other minimally invasive procedures. Medicaid and most other insurances are accepted. Grants are provided for preventive services to children in need. No child is ever turned away for lack of insurance or will be billed for services if they cannot afford to pay. All children (ages 12 months-18 years old) are eligible.
If you want your child to be seen, please call Mrs. Schnaubelt for a permission form. The completed permission form may be faxed to 724-763-9888. If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Kathy Schnaubelt, RN, CSN @ 724-763-5929 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
