Why take the HVAC Fast Track?

So you’re thinking about becoming an entery-level HVAC technician? Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) is a growing advanced technology driven industry with almost unlimited advancement opportunities for technical and business students. HVAC is a stable and reliable service driven industry that will never be outsourced. Continuing educational opportunities allow all who enter HVAC related professions the opportunity for career advancement throughout their lifetime.

What Are the Duties of an HVAC technician?

Depending on your skills, you can work with plumbing, electrical and mechanical components of complex heating and air conditioning units. As a HVAC technician, you might be required to go on service calls to homes and businesses where the work may be in extreme hot and cold temperatures, high places or cramped spaces. You must always perform your duties with care to avoid injury from electrical equipment, toxic fumes and hazardous materials.

What Is My Occupational Outlook?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment for HVAC technicians was expected to grow about 1%, which was faster than average, during the period of 2018 to 2028 (www.bls.gov). The BLS states anticipated growth is most likely due to recent increases in new home construction and environmental concerns, which have prompted some consumers to purchase more energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems for homes and businesses. The median annual wage for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers was $48,730 in May 2019.
